PARTICIPATION IN THE V INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL CONFERENCE “NPP INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL SYSTEMS: SAFETY ASPECTS”

On 1—3 October, 2013 specialists of RPA “Impulse” have participated with two reports in the V International Scientific-Technical Conference “NPP Instrumentation and Control Systems: Safety Aspects” organized by the State Science and Technology Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, and the State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom.

The chairperson of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine Ye.А. Mikolaichuk, the director of the State Science and Technology Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety G.V. Gromov, the Scientific Secretary of “Nuclear Power Plant Instrumentation and Control” department of IAEA J. Eiler, a representative of the American Nuclear Society H. Hashemian, a representative of the State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom Т.А. Tkach, a representative of the Federal State-Funded Institution Scientific and Engineering Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Russia М.Yu. Lankin spoke at the opening of the conference.

More than 100 specialists from Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the USA, the People's Republic of China, Czechia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Lithuania, Switzerland, and IAEA participated in the conference.

The following issues were discussed at the conference:

• safety assurance and basis for new and modernized NPP instrumentation and control systems (I&Cs);
• modernization of I&Cs to prolong the operating life of units;
• methods of I&C safety and reliability analysis;
• new normative documents concerning I&C safety;
• assurance of safety of nuclear subcritical facility control systems;
• imitation of NPP unit control systems;

Participants of the conference noted topicality of exchange of experience and views between employees of NPPs, design organizations, enterprises manufacturing I&Cs, safety regulation specialists.
